16v 2.0 from a 91 Passat

Hey all-
I wanna put slightly stronger-pullin furnace in my 85
8v, and i have already asked you guys for tips (thanks
again by the way!). Based on my own preferences and
list advice, i think i have settled on a 16v 2.0 and i
have a line on one from connecticut that the guy is
willing to ship (tho i don't know what that will cost
yet). The guy is saying $850 for engine, brain,
harness, AC comp, alternator, pumps and even the power
steering pump. Is that reasonable? Also, is it worth
paying whatever shipping for that distance will cost
for an $850 engine? If not, where can i get the same
deal within 200 miles of san fransisco? That way i can
borrow the family van and pick it up. Oh, and if any
experienced swappers have any tips or would like to
look over my shoulder and laugh at my beginner
mistakes, your welcome to join in the fun. Thanks
