NM Roads

So I'm driving down I-40 last night, cruising along in the second lane, when
"WHAM!" I run over what seemed like a 1' wide by 1' deep DITCH running
across the road! No warning, no signs, just "WHAM!". So I get to my
destination, and taking a look at my wheel I notice it looks bent a little.
Not enough that I can feel a difference in the balance or anything, but
enough that I can see it, and possibly the tire store will and refuse to
mount a tire on it (they love doing that here)! ARGH! So what do I do? I
don't have full coverage insurance. Am I screwed? I would love to make the
city foot the bill for repairs (my front end feels a little loose now too).
They roads in NM are statistically the worst in the US (according to a poll
among insurance companies about the amount of damage caused to cars on
average due to bad roads). I would really like for them to know they can't
get away with it forever.
