deciphering the previous alarm and the Central Locking System

Jeff,

The problem you'll run into is that the driver's door is not vacuum
operated. It is merely an electric switch, which controls the whole system.
Basically just like you said.

If you want to retain the CLS, you can go about it 2 ways.

1. Use an aftermarket electric solenoid, controlled by the alarm, on the
driver's door. You push lock/arm and the driver's door locks, which
activates the central locking.

2. Find a way to install a vacuum solenoid in the driver's door, and run
another vacuum line from the pump. Then merely use your new alarm to trigger
(via relays) the pump.

One thing to remember with this second method is that the pump needs a
second or two to reach pressure and actuate the solenoids. Some aftermarket
alarms don't provide a lock-unlock pulse of sufficient duration. I bought a
"crimestopper" unit on ebay for cheap, and it is programmable for pulse
duration.

Jonas
