why do people think Nitrous burns?

Then ask the guys in Apollo 1 . They ran 100% oxygen. The heat was so 
intense that it melted the handles on the doors. They died in under a minute 
and a half.
After that they started to run Nitrogen with the Oxy...

Hows that for 0.02?
