leaking heater core

The center vents always seem to blow out air, unless I turn the temperature to the cold side. Then they blow cold air. This of course is with the blower not turned on and the air direction set to blow anywhere but the center vents. The side vents are fresh air vents, they always blow out outside air (stupidest feature ever, my left hand always goes numb in the winter). At least I live in a cold-winter area where too much heat is better than too little.
