that darn springy door holder thingy

ok, im sure many listers have the obligatory broken one on one of =
their vws.
the other day the driver side door of the rieger went 'pop' as i =
closed it,
and lo and behold, my king-fu-grip door-holder-action is no more.
question: has anyone attempted to fix this thing? im not even sure how =
to
get at it. i look at it from the inside of the twin and cant really =
grasp
the 'proper' way to get at it.
