rear axle beam differences?

Okay, here's a question for those more experienced..

My rear axle beam and/or stub axles are noticibly bent. I can fit three
fingers between the wheel and the body kit on the driver side
and only two on the passenger side. My last set of tires were very
unevenly worn.

I got my hands on a complete rear axle assembly out of a Rabbit..
it was free so I'd rather use it than try and buy one from a 16v out of a
yard.

I'm aware that the brakes are different on my mk2 16v and my car also has
a factory rear swaybar which is not present on the Rabbit axle in stock
form, but are there any other differences that would prevent me from
using the axle beam and/or just the stub axles on my 16v? I will have to
get the old one out and put the two axles side by side in order to
determine if the beam itself is bent or just the stub axles.. for now I'm
assuming worst case that the beam is bent (and potentially the rear
swaybar as well, although I hope not!! I don't have a spare!)

How would I go about fitting the rear sway bar to the rabbit axle?
Can I just drill holes in the right places and swap the brackets over?

And what about swapping brakes.. any differences in the rear wheel
bearings for drum vs. disc or other parts that I should know about?

Thanks in advance,

-Toby
