transmission adaptibility

Any 5 speed will bolt up. However if you get one out of a 16V you will need
a new clutch disk with different splines. Your car should have a 4K tranny
in it. 4K's have 90mm CV flanges. All the newer trannys have 100MM
flanges, which means you will need new halfafts too.

(bearings, as well as who knows what, went in it) anyways iam wondering if
any other 5spd VW transmissions will bolt up or if i need to get another
scirocco tranny from the 1.8l motor
commen sence tells me that any tranny from other 1.8's should bolt up, am
i right?
iam asking this as it may be cheaper to find a used tranny rather then
having to re-build mine if its really pooched inside!

ps: anyone have some ball park prices on what a used but good condition
tranny for my car would cost?(CDN or US funds)
