[Modding blower resistor] Climate fan not working

Has anyone ever made their own resistor pack? I don't know how feasible it is, but I would like to make a fully variable resistor for my blower motor, both for ease of replacement(like something you could get at radio shack) and it'd be cool to have it fully adjustable.
