Removing alternator whine



    If you want to isolate noise to the whole car (and therefore the stereo as well), you would need
a pretty big capacitor (about a farad). If you install it just on the amp, you will have to be sure
the head unit is on the same circuit (i.e. after the cap). This means relaying the switched ignition
power (since the ignition power going to the amp would be unfiltered).
    A remote cause of your alternator whine may be ground loops. If the amps/head are low grade they
will pick up the ripple voltage in the low voltage inputs and amplify them.
