Brad-   Cathy is correct in advising you to remove the seat prior to working
on it....I was remiss when I didn't mention that one, basic, but quite
important bit of information....:)

Mine too, I used the coated green wire you use for chain link fences, and
made
a loop. My cable was shot too, had to get a new one. Pull the seat out of
the
car and you'll see how easy it is to do. The "seat restoration" was my first
(
of many ) repairs on this car.
