ebay-fraud (etka)

Done... Below is the letter I sent to everyone I could think of and
their email addys. More emails to these people should get someones
attention.

It does feel like a bit of a double standard, though. No problem with
giving away illegal copies for free, but selling them is wrong?
Illegal copying is wrong either way. Do you think the manufacturer
will understand this train of thought?

Hmmmmm... Bets on how long until this users auctions are shut down?

This is to notify the above listed parties that the Ebay.com user
tasosbougas@aol.com appears to be selling illegal copies of the "ETKA"
software by LexCom Informationssysteme GmbH. This is the "parts"
software that is used by VW and Audi dealerships, and is very
expensive to purchase. There is simply no way legal copies of this
software are being sold for $20.00 or less. If I am wrong in this
matter, please accept my sincere appologies and tell me where to
purchase an original copy at this price.

This users auction list can be found at:

LEXCOM Informationssysteme GmbH is encouraged to contact and register
with Ebay's VERO program.

EBAY is encouraged to take action in this and other matters of sales
of illegal copies of software on Ebay. Stop hiding behind "we are only
a venue" and the "software company must complain" and take action!

DAMON@PAYPAL.COM please forward to the appropriate department. Paypal
is the preferred method of payment by this user.

AOL is encouraged to investigate and shut down this users account.

Why am I and other VW enthusiasts taking the time to report this? The
selling of illegal copies of copyrighted material is simply wrong.
This software is obviously a very useful resource for enthusiasts
(researching parts before going to a dealership). If this "dealer
only" software is to be shared among enthusiasts, it should be given
away, and not sold for a profit. If a "personal use only" version
was offered by the manufacturer at an afforadable price ($30 or less),
I have no doubt many VW owners would purchase a copy.

Thank you for your time,

Greg Davis
