Scirocco cooling

I actually have nothing more then a low temp fan switch and low temp thermo, 
and my oil temp doesn't go above 80-85C according to my gauge. Is this 
detramental to the engine, or going to cause poorer running conditions then 
warmer oil? This is on a 16v with 2.0 bottom and 1.8 head.
