Fuel line re-route in MK1 16V conv

Listers,
I have posted this on the vortex also I think, but I'll ask here as well.
When swapping the suspension from a 16V to the MK1, the control arm pivot
point bracket(the rear one) is changed as well as it is larger to
accommodate the attachment of the stock 16V front sway bar. However.....
that larger bracket is exactly where the 2 fuel lines run under the pass
feet. I guess I just bend them around but dang there tough, especially
while lying on my back knocking 22 year old dirt in to my eyes. Is there a
trick set up for this. Tell me I'm not crazy and a few of you folks have
encountered this.
Thanks
