RE: Badger 5 t-bodies

Check my page and in the 16V gallery I have a ton of t-body pics. There is
also a pic of a badger car running a custom radiator.

I think you will find that the air coming through that radiator at speed is
not all that hot. For all intensive purposes all you folks running swiss
cheesed airboxes are getting the same if not hotter air. Theres an article
in EC discussing this and all the cool air in the world means very little in
an un-boosted car on the road.

In order for the temp drop across the t-bodies to make an appreciable
difference in power your going to need a drop in excess of 25 degrees. For
this you will need an intercooler.

The does not apply to heat soak at low speeds and there is nothing you can
do for this. Even if you did have it ducted straight to the grill the oven
which you engine bay is at low speeds is gonna cook that air anyway. Hell,
my Piper Airbox heat soaks horribly in traffic.

Your best bet would be to run a Spal slim line dual fan setup. This at least
lessons the funnel effect of the stock fan setup. It allows for a more
consistent temp across the face of the radiator. Not to mention you get to
dump the boat anchor factory shroud.

Or just run a ducted setup as you can see on some cars on my page. The only
problem with this in my mind is that you are changing the air velocity
around. Carbs dont care about this other than for atomization. But if memory
serves me correctly those horns on the TBs are tuned by their length and the
venturi effect varies with different lengths. If you force air in there I
would imagine those values would change.

Well, it'd be over the tranny, but farther removed than the factory
piece is.

My other brainstorm is something behind the front fenderwell...
