The VW Rabbit tank will fit in a Mk1 Scirocco but it is not just
plug-n-play.

Many years ago I replaced a tank in an 81 Scirocco because It was rusted and
I ended up putting a jack stand through it...Doh!

I went to a local wrecker, bought a Rabbit tank (told to be exactly the same
as the Scirocco) had it chem stripped and coated.
When I went to install it I found one of the gas lines (don't remember which
one now, possibly a return line) had to be lengthened about 2ft.
The mount for this line on the Scirocco tank was on the opposite side on the
Rabbit tank.  8O

Worked beautifully after installing an extension, and never had a problem.
Just a heads up.
