RE: Cruise control ..documentation...?

heheh I could start by documentation on what I do have on the car combined
with the ETKA photo of what parts
are needed to complete the system ? would that make a few of you simple..
since I have almost all the parts from factory install (only missing the
linkage... okay I am lazy..eh!) I could get part # location photo how there
are installed (since they never where removed..)

Well it's obvious that Toby is not the only one looking to install cruise so
here is the list of original equipment on my '86 cabbie.

Toby,

There is no reason why you could not do it. You would need:
the vacuum pump (separate system, independent of engine vacuum),
cruise control module (mounted under dash, over passengers feet),
speed pick up (mounted in speedometer and all speedos have the necessary
mounting ports),
the solenoid vacuum bleeder,
the servo,
the kill switches (brake and clutch, don't forget the mounting plate for
these),
the turn signal switch with the cruise controls,
lots of vacuum hose,
and lots of wiring expertise, and
patience.

Bentley has a very good section on the VW unit that is in my '86 Cabrio.
It's a fine system and should work even better with the additional power of
the 16V. Mine is getting the 16V swap at the end of the month and I plan on
retaining the cruise.
