Exhaust options?

Well, I have suspected that my catalytic converter on my '88 16v was
bad, but now I have a crack in my downpipe, so it is time to replace
the whole thing. I would eventually like to have an all stainless
system like I did on my last Scirocco, but right now I am on a
budget, and can't drive the car until I get it fixed. So, what
options do you knowledgeable guys (and girls) suggest? Please keep in
mind that I want to keep the car legal for street use, so I am not
interested in solutions that require loosing the cat.







The goal is to overcome the deliberate nature of the process.
