Tranny problems!

My new tranny just went in my '88 16v, and everything seems to work
fine except that reverse does not engage! The shifter will go into
reverse, but the car is still in neutral. All the other gears seem to
shift fine. The new transmission is from an '87 16v. Anyone have any
ideas? I am told that the tranny shifted just fine before being
pulled from the donor car.







The goal is to overcome the deliberate nature of the process.
