Re: 5w-20w

Kervin,
I am running Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic in my TT built 8V EN (bored out to
1847cc).
I originally decided on this weight because my oil temps seemed a little low
(more friction=more heat....Yeah, I know stupid idea) and I also figured
there was less drag with the lighter oil allowing it to spin up faster and
higher.
The engine only has about 25K on it now and I've been running this weight
for the last two oil changes (~12K).
I haven't noticed any changes in noise (JH head) or in oil temp but oil
consumption/leakage did go up a little (~1qt every 5 or so fillups)
I drive the car REAL hard (see's 6.5K regularly and has seen 7.1K half a
dozen times...twice with ChrisG in the car last Sunday :D )
I am going to switch back to 10W-30 just to preserve the engine a little
tho'.
I didn't notice any gains from the lighter oil so I guess my recomendation
would be to stick with 10W-30 or thicker depending on the climate you live
in.
I'm sure others with more knowledge on the subject will be of more help 8P.
