You are absolutely right; HPA has neither developed from scratch their own
turbo kits nor their own coilovers; they have only chosen to partner with
HGP to federalize the VR6 kit for the North American market and will soon be
bringing their 16v kit with the appropriate 50 state software for fueling
and timing purposes.  Their goal was to bring a nice, high quality kit to
the states for not too much money... And when you get down to it nobody
"scratch builds" a turbocharging system for the 16v or the 8v engines... we
just merely buy a manifold, develop the plumbing and find the right software
to work with the cars from people like Garrett Lim.  They have done the same
with KW; worked to make a good product better so that they can stand out in
a marketplace.  You may or may not like their products but to be fair one of
the reasons that HPA is doing this deal is to get more exposure in the NA
market.

As for the whole issue with the TT and my conversion I am paying that money
out of my pocket as I did for all of my cars; I am 33 years old and work a
ton of hours during my day job to support my love of cars and also to help
bring a resource like the Vortex (a free resourse by the way) to users; like
the community or not.  I have only lurked here on the list and occasionally
try to contribute due to the time constraints of my website but have nothing
but respect for the members of the community as a whole.  I thought it was
unfair for someone to come out and call names on a company like HPA with no
facts to support it.  As for my relationship with HPA it is merely as one of
the people who has taken interest in VWVortex and through their support help
bring better products to the marketplace.   Look at all the stuff that has
evolved for the 1.8T motor;  look at the 1.8T Golf and Jetta, look at the
25th anniversary GTI, and so on.

Sorry for the rant!  I am sorry if I have pissed anyone off with my little
diatribe.
