squeaky-ass steering column

Has anyone else had a problem with this? It squeaks
most during slow, sustained motion of the steering
wheel.

I took the damn thing apart down to the 2 U-clamps and
spritzed some of the contact areas w/ WD-40, but it
didn't help. It's most noticeable in the mornings when
it's colder.

Any ideas? TIA, JT
