Actually, the weight distribution is worse.  The entire engine is stuck way 
out in front of the front axle line.  On the transverse mounted engines, it's 
mostly in front too, but, it's tilted back to move it a little closer to the 
front axle center line and the bulk of it doesn't stick out as far forward as 
in the longitudinal mounting arrangement.
