For the answer to that question, take a look at some of the pages on restoring
VW Busses! 
If its still recognizable as a car, it can be saved.  How much time and money
do you have?

Where I had the Rocco painted the owner's brother had an Austin on blocks at
the back. I wondered why the interior looked so bright - on looking, it had no
floor, no frame, being restored piece by piece. Obviously a labour of love.
Same would go for our cars in many cases I'm sure.
