Re: synthetic and conventional oil question [for those who missed out]

Synthetic oil is:

1. smaller on a molecular level
2. doesn't have the need for the comparatively large molecules of
polymetric thickeners as multi weight conventional oil does (those
molecules shear and break down faster causing varnish)
3. generally has a HIGHER percentage of detergents (thus the claims of
5000mi + change intervals)
4. tasty

Synth/Conv blends are:

1. a joke
2. more expensive and only as good as conventional
3. nice when you're not regular due to "blockage" (put a bottle to your
pooper and squeeze...HARD!)

Conventional oil is:

1. generally all the same now. there was a time when Quakerstate
actually came from wells in Pennsylvania and had a high paraffin content.
2. made by the underwear gnomes...PROFIT!
