Twin Motor Scirocco

A few weeks ago, a coupla of us Scirocco owners hooked up at a local VW
meet.  We were discussing the twin motor swap that VW had done in the
Scirocco many eons ago.

Whatever happened to that car?  Is it still in existence and does it still
run?  Anyone have the specs on that car? And finally, how many were
produced?

Incidentally, I searched scirocco.org and found nothing about the car.
