RE: FI Start problems

Ah well that is not a COLD start problem but a Hot Start problem.

Bentley p5-6 (85-92) CIS troubleshooting

2. hot start -engine starts hard or fails to start when warm.
probable causes
a. Hot start pulse relay faulty, Test hot start pulse relay and replace it
if necesseray
b. Cold start valve leaking or operating continuously, test cold start valve
and thermo time switch
c. fuel pressure incorrect, Test warm control pressure. replace control
pressure regulator is required.
d. inpect air flow sensor plate rest position. and adjust if required (1.9mm
below lowest edge of bowl)
e. test residual fuel pressure, replace fuel pump check valve or fuel
accumulator as necessary
f. inspect fuel lines and connections, correct leaks as required.

I would suggested the pressure regulator on teh from of teh block myself,

Warm starting. Run it for ten minutes and then shut it off, then try
starting again. It'll turn over great, but never ever catch. Have to wait
about half an hour.
