You got that right!  My old 240D (talk about slow!!) used the old style ceramic fuses like VW used to use, but never had any problems with them!  The Secret?  The fuse holder had sliding contacts withs big spring that made really good contact, plus the fuse box was sealed with a screwed on cover and a rubber gasket.  The fuse box probably cost $500!
