Mike-   You are right, wouldn't hurt to try an informal petition.

ref the New Beetle:  other than a slight visual similarity, what does the NB
have in common with the original?  (other than half its name and four tires,
of course)
VW did not bring back the Beetle, it designed a new car and gave it the old
car's name.
The same thing would happen with the "New Scirocco"  and then most people
would say "What's a Scirocco?"   It's fun dreaming of the "what-ifs", but
they're still just dreamin'...
In the meantime, we have our real, in-the-hand, living/breathing,
Acura-kickin' old 'Rocs to play with!!!!  Yeeeeaaaa-hooooo!

To those that say the Scirocco is dead-   consider the history of the 
Beetle.   It's recesitation has been a success to VW.        Raise the 
scirocco from the dead (not the corrado).

The whole point of the topic in the first place is not to establish or 
debate the viability of a new scirocco- but to request that the list 
(all of us Scirocco enthusiats) to simply mail a request of interest to 
VW.  Even if you don't want to buy one yourself- some of us would.   If 
you think it would never work- then you lose nothing for trying.       
 The power of the list is great when we work together.
