Re: tested injectors --> Fuel pressure

You bettcha,...(I think?). From what I understood the old VW mech. that
ended up helping me out,....the injectors need <blank> amt of pressure to
actually open. My pump was *right* on the hairy edge of this amt of
pressure. So the only time my injectors would spray was when the mixture
was set too rich. (I wouldn't actually say "spray" in my car,...they just
kinda streamed like a leaky garden hose) So installing a new pump with
more than said pressure will *push* fuel properly. I don't know if the old
farts rationale is sound or not,....but it worked! He also emptied out
most of my gas tank (leaving like a 1/4 tank) and dumped in a can of BG fuel
treatment and told me to run the car at 1200 rpms for about a half hour.
Then drive the car till near empty, change the fuel filter, fill 'er up with
93 octane and recheck the spray patterns on the injectors. His idea was
that the BG would clean out the injectors with this new found fuel pressure.
Well,...they don't spray perfectly like the new ones I installed last week
on my 16v,....the they are MUCH better now. Once again,...this is the
stuff that the guy said would work and it did. I do not claim that it is
the *right* way or the correct reasoning *why* it worked.....Bottom line was
that it did work.
HTH,
Chris
