Parts question timing belt covers.

Hey ya'll <-- dumbass(tm) opening

i have an 87 16v that I have be screwing with for a while, actually i've
been wrenching it in prep for the first big trip in it.. to Cincy.

I have replaced the waterpump (whata pain), timing belt, pass side
motormount (PO mechanic put it in upside down). and upon inspection the
sheet metal plate for the lower cover has a grind mark in it from the
intermediate shaft gear (that roccs that it only turns the oil pump) and
is about 1/2 way ground thru. and the lower plastic cover is in none too
good of shape either. any suggestions? I know i have to fix the metal
plate cause that will just trim the hella out of the new timing belt if it
comes apart, but what about the plastic part. And anybody got a spare
laying about?

?? rumor of rocco rotting in a driveway with a 69 machI possible coming to
a nice new home :-)... dont know how I get involved in these roccos.
