The gauges are basically ammeters, so if you hooked them in parallel, then
the current gets divided between the two of 'em. Series would be the way to
go, but I don't want to try to figure out how to wire that up right now.

Oh what the hell, each gauge has +12, ground, and sender connections. Try
connecting the sender connection of one gauge to the
+12 of the other. The grounds might throw things off, and don't come crying
to me if the gauges turn all crispy.

I still wouldn't trust either one. Did you make sure that the Audi one is on
the same scale (and uses the same sender) as the VW unit.
