Check out refinishing article in latest GRM.  LMK if you try the 
clear-dip anodizing described.  An alternative if you want shiny Al is to 
spray with chrome type aerosol paint.  You'd be surprised how shiny it 
will be.

RE:  The 4-2-1 manifold

Velocity of sound at room temp is ~1100 FT/SEC.  Faster with higher 
temp.  Basically the 4-2-1 gives a spread of resonances where you get 
reinforcement vs. the 4-1 with a single, higher sweet spot.  Reply 
privately if you really want the math.
