help diagnose this brake problem

car is an 87 16v. if i depress the brake pedal quickly, brake pressure
is fine and pedal is firm; however, if i depress the brake pedal
slowly, it will go right to the floor. i don't think it's air in the
lines, because there is no spongy feel. fluid level is ok. no leaks at
any of the wheels (that i can see). i'm thinking maybe the MC or
booster, but i'd like to be reasonably sure before buying replacement
parts (for naught).
