RE: AC belt tension

Not all a/c equipped vehicles have a tensioning bolt. Many have a pulley
that's adjustable in diameter by adding/removing shims. By the way Brian, I
just replaced the tensioning bolt you mentioned on my car (87 16v). I had to
cut mine down to around 80-90cm in length so it wouldn't rub against my
lower rad. hose.

Julie, There is a tensioning bolt for the A/C compressor. It is located
just in front of the compressor, and just behind the radiator. You cant
get
the belt tight unless you have this bolt. I have had to replace mine twice
already. They seem to get up and walk away by themselves. I dont know the
size off and but it is a fairly long bolt, like around 6 inches or so. Good
Luck
