RE: Ball Joint

When separating the ball joint from the strut, be sure to completely remove
the bolt not just loosen it. You can then use a pry bar to spread the piece
to allow the ball joint shaft in or out more easily.

i'm talking about separating the ball joint from the wheel housing, not
removing it from the control arm. i don't think you can do the struts w/o
doing that, but i may be wrong. if you don't have one already, get a ball
joint separator tool from pep boys or wherever, makes it much easier.
putting them back in is the tough part-- line the joint up the best that you
can, and put a jack under the control arm until the struts compress a little
bit. it should slide in. again, the most important thing is getting it lined
up correctly. the new bolts will come with all the required hardware. don't
stress about the drilling. it's no problem. what's the worst that can
happen? you ruin a $25 control arm, but that would be nearly impossible.
