VDO tach - bouncy bouncy at idle

ok, this is odd, at idle the tach will occasionally bounce up to 2k and back down to 400rpm, then
back to idle speed. Not the engine, just the tach. Raising rpm stops it, and it may or may not
bounce again once back at idle. I think it may be vibration induced. This is the 3rd rocco i've had
that has done this, so someone else out there must have seen it by now.
