air fuel guage wiring

Hopefully my guage will be here in the morning and I want to hook it up for 
Saturday racing. I have a 3 wire and assume the wire I connect it to is the 
one that has the single connector not the double?
Also how do I test my O2 sensor to see if its working correctly?
