No that is not true at all!  My '88 GLI 16v is a base model GLI.  it has no 
sunroof, no power windows, no power locks, no power heated mirrors (if they 
even had that), no ac (yes it does have a non ac alt bracket)  hehehehe, but 
it does have power stearing.  Oh, and that is definatly a diesel engine in 
the blue car.  Anyone else notice the blue recaros lookin in really good 
shape??  mmmmmmm.
