Re: Unknown transmission scirocco

The only one I know of like that, is the auto stick trannies in the old beetles. It was really just a vaccuum operated clutch. When you went to change gears, you placed pressure on the top of the shifter. This caused two electrical contacts in the shifter to touch. This closed a circuit that operated a solenoid. The solenoid opened a vaccuum line to a vaccuum servo which in turn released the clutch through a solid linkage on the transaxle. They only made them for a few years (68 -74, 75 I believe, in the US anyway). HTH

Subject: Unknown transmission scirocco

I recently was in a talk about a 1986 VW scirocco I buying next week and I friend told me there is a transmission for a scirocco that has no syncros in it so u can change gears with out the clutch.  if course u have to use the clutch to put it into reverse and into first gear but when u are shifting through the gears u don't.  If anyone has info on the transmission please give me some insight on it and the price of it.
