Re: wanted: 86-88 vw scirocco 16v



At the risk of getting too defensive about my position on "cheap daily
drivers", Rick's car is a good example of what I mean:
 Rick bought a car for $500, fixed it (motor mount, fuel distributor,
battery), and now has a daily driver, even though it still has minor
"issues".  Even Monster indicated that the 'roc he bought for $600 was sold
to him because it wouldn't start.  That car also meets my definition of a
fixer.
What both guys bought were fixers that they turned into DD's with a little
(or maybe not so little) work/cash....a little "fixin'".   I'm done.  Peace.

PS  Rick's advice on not feeling like you have to buy the first car you find
is sound.  I was lucky in that the first one I looked at was a winner, but
you do tip the odds in your favor if you look at several before making a
decision.
