A2 Strut housings on an A1? And GC q...

I'm shopping around for coilover kits.  I followed a recommendation for
OPM Motorsports that I found from an archive search.  The fellow at OPM
(Blake) recommended that I use A2 strut housings on my A1 car.  Said
they were larger diameter and that would allow a better (double
adjustable?) Koni shock to be used.  

Not wanting to second guess this guy as he seemed to know what he was
talking about, but I have to at least verify this...anyone done it? 
Pros/cons, results?

Now, the fellow at Ground Control said their sleeves will go over
either an A1 or A2 strut.  In fact, he said that I could leave the
stock perch in place, and the sleeve would sit on it.  That don't sound
right to me.  Experiences?
