Replace both. Its a little more work. Its a little more expensive to. In
the long run, it will be well worth it since its likely you will have to
do it again real soon since the old cable is probably stretched, weak and
ready to break. Then there is the adjustability of the new -vs- old cable
issues. 

You could just do the one cable. Suffer whatever consequences might
follow.
