RE: how to steal a vw



All that holds the ignition switch in is a wire tie, so if you remove the
lower cover and cut that, starting the car is a breeze and can be done
nondestructively (except for the wire tie) in under 30s.  However, driving
it may prove to be a challenge since the steering will still be locked.
