The good stuff always costs.

You have to decide what the best compromise is for yourself. Do you value
saving a few hundred dollars above having to replace blown struts every year
and then finding a quality alignment shop?

I got tired of the yearly strut replacement so I got Bilstein Sports; one of
the very few struts on the market designed to work with lowering springs.
There are sacrifices and compromises when you lower your car. Ride
compliance will always suffer, but at least when you purchase quality
struts, you will maintain the level of harshness throughout the life of the
shock. With the budget struts (Boge, Sachs, *kyb*) its a broad spectrum of
"wow my car is low and has a smooth ride" all the way to "Dude, why does
your car make that sound when you drive into a driveway".

As Guy Light once told me, "I won't even touch KYB's. They won't even last
through a stage before they are trashed. Biltstein's will last the entire
rally season." Words from the pro.

You choose the best compromise,
