Exhaust banging and Exhaust wrap

Hi people

I have a problem with the exhaust on my car because where it goes over the 
rear beam it bangs against the fuel tank guard. I have tried every position 
i can (Oh er ;-)) but at best it bangs away at idle and upon changing gear.

So I thought i need something between exhaust and guard that can take the 
heat. Now I know thay do exhaust wrap so it must be able to withstand the 
heat but how does it stay on. Is it sticky or is it by wrapping it tight 
enough and if so how do you keep it from unwrapping. I suspect i'd have to 
put on several layers.

Does anyone have any other ideas on this - is there a material i could say 
glue onto the heat shield

Please advise as this is driving me mad
