Exhaust manifold Coating

I was reading Volkswagen Sport Tuning for street and competition by Per
Schroeder where he talked about coating the exhaust manifold for
improved performance.  I would like to know if anybody on this list did
this procedure on their setup and tell me which is the best way to go
about it for my setup.
