The "S" did not come out until '80.  But the one you saw is the same thing a 
later "S" would be.  It could have been a Sidewinder, but I'm not an expert 
on what makes a Sidewinder.  My '78 Champagne Edition has a lot of the "S" 
stuff:  blackout trim, white stripe in the bumper, decal on the beltline, 
bolstered sport seats, black dash, no woodgrain, 100MPH speedo, white 
badges.
