I wouldn't go beyond the minimum thickness on the rotors and the max
diameter on the drums. 
If you remove the rotors/drums and take them to a machine shop to be
turned, they will tell you when they're too thin.

Castrol GTLMA brake fluid. Most any brake pad is fine, stock works great.
If you want a little more, Ferodo's are a good upgrade for the money. For
the rear brakes, go with factory stuff. They don't do much in the way of
braking (unlike the front brakes. 80% front -20% rear.) so they don't
need anything special.

Try slowing down when your comming to an intersection. Even if the light
is green, anticipate the yellow.
