Re: fuel injector cleaning/balancing

A friend showed me how to do this just the other day. First, bypass the FP
relay. Pull out your injectors. Pop off your air boot. Then lift up on the
air flapper varying amounts, whilst your assistant uses a small copper parts
cleaning brush to scrape the holes out. It sounds wierd, but it will be
apparent what you should be doing when you get there. As you lift the
plunger thingy, you will see the fuel pissing all over the place, shooting
in small tight streams at odd angles. This is bad. When they are working
right, you will see finely atomized fuel instead. If you scrape the hell out
of them with the brush, you will be able to get the micro-bits of grit out
of them. Experiment with different levels of "throttle" (positions of the
flapper), until you get the gas to come out evenly and finely at all
positions. It's not hard to do. I guess the worst thing about the procedure
is the gas that will be sprayed everywhere. If you haven't replaced your
injector seals, you'd be crazy not to do it now also.

Of course you will probably set yourself on fire doing this, so you didn't
hear this from me, and my account of this is purely fictional, and not to be
taken seriously. -intended as a disclaimer...
